GENERAL
You may ask if working out in general has any positive effect on your brain as well as on you body. Yes it does! Studies have shown that the benefits of physical exercise, especially aerobic exercise, have positive effects on brain function. According to a study done by the „Department of Exercise Science“ at the University of Georgia even briefly exercising - only 20 minutes per workout - facilitates information processing and memory functions.

Basically what happens is that exercise or any form of physical activity increases the heart rate and causes more blood through out your whole body and in turn more improved blood flow to your brain also. It aids the bodily release of a plethora of hormones, all of which participate in aiding and providing a nourishing environment for the growth of brain cells. Exercise stimulates the brain plasticity by stimulating growth of new connections between cells in a wide array of important cortical areas of the brain. In addition to this, there is an added effect that exercise stimulates increased growth activities in the brain, there by aiding the brain to grow new neural connections.
